Snow falls on Aberdeen. I think winter has finally arrived!
Over the past few days, besides working my ass off and being extremely tired I have been enjoying (from the heat of my room or car) the spectacle of snow falling on the Silver (Gray) City. No I exaggerate, you'll be glad to know I donned the nice warm hoodie and headed out into the wilds to grab a few photos from around campus and further afield for everyone back home to have a look at. Im assuming everyone will have power - but I haven't factored in that you may indeed have had a slight sprinkling on the ground and consequently NIE have shut the power down as a result and furthermore every road has no doubt been made impassable.
Well done to big Phil (good friend of Jean and Big Dave) who has managed to bring his team to an Ulster schools final. Keep up the hard work big man - remember our long term plan.
I have uploaded some photos of the snow around Aberdeen in the gallery, feel free to have a browse. The silver fox would do well to replace his camera, await instructions from me though on what to buy - DO NOT, I REPEAT - DO NOT pick one yourself.
I really love a snowy weekend - better than chips and chocolate!
Niall and Martina tie the knot and someone special hits the big 22!
Well Friday was a very special day for Niall and Martina who finally tied the knot, well done Mr & Mrs McClean! It was such a pity I couldnt get over for it - but it was so nice to get a call from the big man himself! Im so pleased for you both. Friday was also a special day for Miss McAllan who turned 22! (almost as old as me!), to celebrate the occasion, we headed to La Lombarda without doubt one of the finest Italian restaurants I've set foot in (admittedly I haven't been in a lot of Italian restaurants - but they would need to be very good to beat this place!). Steaks were the order of the day and to say they were divine would be a major disservice to the chef who prepared them - absolutely gorgeous. Drink was a really nice bottle of Prosecco - first time I or Lianne had tried it - a really nice easy to drink sparkling white - I think its fair to say we would definitely look out for it in future.
In other news the last remnants of Autumn are being quickly blown from the many branches in Seaton Park and around the halls, on a windy sunny day like today the opportunity to go for a dander and take a few shots was all too enticing - the results really don't do what I seen (and wanted to capture) justice despite this I have uploaded some of the pics for you to peruse, along with a few pics of the beautiful birthday girl blowing out her candles - enjoy! (so that's why punctuation is important!)
The video for this update? Well IT IS her birthday....
Its been a while since the last update, things have been hectic and the weather has slowly but surely been deteriorating here. I feel so deceived, no one ever mentioned fog to me! - but it is nice to look at.
What an important few hours - here's hoping Mr Obama delivers upon his promises and stays true to who he is once he gets into office. Bye bye Mr Bush - I hope your still arrested for the war crimes you have committed.
Ive just added a few photos with a little cross section of what I have been up to since I've been here in the Silver (GREY) City. They are up in the photo section now.
I'll leave you with this little tune:
A big day for Joanna on Friday - many happy returns Forte - hope you have a great one.
Its been a long week and I'm not even half way through it yet - oh wait no I am actually half way through it - ahhhh the beauty of having Friday off ..... This week has been one of resolutions - my intention was to reign in the spending, this is proving to be manageable but the new iphone (same one Jesus had) needs a case to keep it pretty - so apart from that the weekly budget remains intact.
In other news I've learned a clever trick with a bottle of water - amazing tool for behaviour management. Results have been phenomenal: it will get a positive response from the first use or even the threat of use. However DO NOTE: if the person on the receiving end manages to get the bottle - the exercise can quickly become a long drawn out negotiation between you and the offending party, deodorant can counteract this - but it is advisable to have a spare water bottle to hand should this situation occur.
After finishing the Degree its very strange indeed to be back in a university library - (yes ok Domhnall! its strange to be in a library for the first time lol). A long drawn out Sunday spent trawling through the Education section with the wee aberdonian means we have officially started the assignment - a major relief, but still much remains to be done - fingers crossed that's all the library work done though!
Teamwork. Don't you just love it when a team gels together and you just come up with something dazzling? Some people need to take a long hard look at themselves - 'oh well, whatever, nevermind'
Oh saw this on James' t-shirt and loved it:
'Beware the Deadly Donkey Falling slowly from the sky You can CHOOSE the way You LIVE, my friend But not the way you DIE'
Deadly Donkey by Edward Monkton
Also loving this (almost as much as the person who made me listen to it - so it's up just for them):
More to follow shortly folks. As always stay tuned.
